At the beginning of this week, I made my way to Waitrose Cookery School in Finchley Road for their #cookandshare supper club, invited alongside other bloggers and instagrammers for an evening to celebrating Waitrose Easter food range and the joy of sharing food
We started by preparing the meringue for our Spring Eton Mess (which is definitely one of my top 3 favourite desserts). Meringue in the oven, we moved to enjoy a cocktail making class and learn how to make an Easter themed Piňa Colada- with I truly enjoyed, even though I am not a fan of this cocktail usually. I guess the chocolate on the glass rim helped!
Then we moved to our starter- mackerel with pickled grapes, cucumber and pickled grapes. This was super fun to make, as we had to blow-torched the mackerel, which was scary at first, but definitely a good skill to learn. Once this was ready, we all went a bit crazy photographing the dish and styling using the different props.
As expected, there was a lot of tasty food, you can see more images below, our menu for the evening included: whole salmon, roast leg of lamb, gnocchi with broccoli, rarebit with cauliflower, stuffed onions. An Easter feast, indeed! Before we could tuck in, more photographs were taken.
It would be very difficult to choose a favourite out of everything we tasted, however I really enjoyed the lamb, as it was cooked to perfection and also, on my side of the table, we couldn't get enough of the broccoli.
Before we could enjoy dessert, we had to finish it and the meringue was now ready. So we headed to the kitchen for the last time to finish our Spring Eton Mess- which we prepared with white chocolate as a base, adding cream, fruit and meringue. Delicious!
This week, Waitrose has launched a competition with the theme #cookandshare- to participate and be with a chance to win a special prize, all you need to do is prepare (either bake or cook) an Easter treat and share your photos either on Twitter or Instagram saying who you would share this with, using the hastag #CookAndShare and @Waitrose.
