I was invited to the launch of the new Jamie Oliver cookery school at Jamie's Italian in Westfield. I am Italian, however I have to admit that I before this I couldn't make fresh pasta from scratch. My mom is an amazing cook, I have very vivid memories of my grandma coming over every Sunday and making lasagne with my mom and I would usually help out. This is as far as my pasta making skills go, at least until I attended this class.
Our teacher was the Italian chef, Gennaro Contaldo and he explained in detail from how to prepare the dough to how to shape different types of pasta. I have always known how simple and quick it was, but Gennaro inspired me to start making my own, especially as you can make a batch and store it in the freezer.
Below Gennaro in action.
The pasta was super delicious and no need for extra complicated pasta sauce, I will not be sharing the tips given during the class, you will have to go to find out.
